Travis County Fire Rescue is a combination fire department serving
about 175 square miles of southeast Travis County with an estimated
population of over 30,000.
If you live within Travis County but outside of the City of Austin
east of I-35 and south of the Colorado River, we provide fire
and EMS first response to you.
Being a combination department means that we staff our stations
with paid and non-paid fire and EMS personnel and have an open
membership regardless of where you live.
Travis County Fire Rescue currently has 2 fill time fire stations
staffed 24 hours a day, running about 2,200 emergency incidents
per year.
In January 2006, the department launched a new program to train
fire fighters to provide advanced levels of EMS care. With the
first class of EMT – Intermediates scheduled to complete
initial training in February 2007 they will immediately begin
their Travis County EMS clearance process and are projected to
begin providing advanced care in the field in mid-2007.
The fire fighters both paid and non-paid are constantly training
on structural fire fighting, technical rescue and emergency care
of the sick and injured to name a few. If you are interested in
being a fire fighter drop by or call us to learn more.
